  3. ZDBENCH DIRECTORY README
  4. ========================
  5. This is the README file for the \ZDBENCH directory. It tells you about the
  6. subdirectories in the \ZDBENCH directory.
  7.  
  8. The \ZDBENCH directory contains the following subdirectories:

  10. THIS DIRECTORY:    CONTAINS:
  11.  
  12. DISKETTE           Diskette images for WinBench (R) 96. You can use these
  13.            images to create a set of installation diskettes for
  14.            WinBench 96.
  15.  
  16. DOCS               The on-line documentation files for each of the
  17.            PC benchmarks.
  18.  
  19. WB96               WinBench 96 Version 1.0 for measuring PC graphics, disk,
  20.            processor, video, and CD-ROM subsystem performance under
  21.            Windows (R).
  22.  
  23. WS96               Winstone (R) 96 Version 1.0, an application-based
  24.            benchmark of overall PC performance under Windows.
  25.  
  26. WS32               Winstone 32 Version 1.0, an application-based
  27.            benchmark of overall PC performance under Microsoft (R) 
  28.            Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows NT (TM) Workstation 3.51 
  29.            with Service Pack 1 (or later).

  31. Each subdirectory contains a README file that gives more specific
  32. information about that subdirectory.

  34. NOTE:   Before you use any Ziff-Davis benchmark, you must agree to
  35.     that benchmark's license agreement. You'll see the license
  36.     agreement the first time you run any of the benchmarks.
  37.     We also include the license agreement in each benchmark's
  38.     documentation.

  41. INSTALLING ALL BENCHMARKS
  42. =========================
  43. This CD-ROM may contain the Ziff-Davis PC Benchmarks Installer program. 
  44. With this installer program, you can install WinBench 96, Winstone 96, 
  45. and/or Winstone 32, as well as other programs WinBench 96 requires, at 
  46. one time.

  48. If you're running Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0, and AutoPlay is enabled, 
  49. the installer program starts automatically if the CD-ROM is in the 
  50. CD-ROM drive. If you need to start the installer program, execute 
  51. INSTALL.EXE from the CD-ROM's root directory using the File | Run command 
  52. under Windows.

  54. NOTE:    You can also install each benchmark by executing the benchmark's
  55.         SETUP.EXE file. For specific installation instructions, see the
  56.     README files in \ZDBENCH\WB96 (WinBench 96), \ZDBENCH\WS96
  57.     (Winstone 96), and \ZDBENCH\WS32 (Winstone 32).
